Crucify Your Fears

Our weekly messages are aimed to  make us feel and encounter the power of God in all we do. The objective is to  experience  God real, even in the midst of difficult challenges. There are so many factors fighting our path to victory. Apart from some factors affecting us,  I have discovered that one of the most stumbling blocks we really need to challenge in our lives and spiritual growth is Ourselves

Sometimes the problem is not what God has done or has not done,  sometimes the problem is not anyone around us nor  certain negative factors. Sometimes  the problem is our inability to step out in action. We fear to act,  we fear that people will laugh at us, we fear that we may fail,  we fear to meet someone we think is unapproachable, we fear someone we think is using magical powers,  we fear to challenge some certain circumstances that seems to be stumbling blocks etc. Sometimes what is holding us is not that God is unwilling to answer us, but we are not willing to act according to God’s direction and inspiration. Many today are living in the fear of the unknown and this has continued to keep them where they are still.

Fear is so powerful that it can affect you both spiritually and temporally.  “Fear not” is seen in almost 250 places in the bible. Fear affects your prayers. Fear puts your destiny on hold. Mathew 11:12 says that “From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has suffered violence, and only the violent takes it by force” success is not for the fearful. Spiritual victory is not for the feeble but the strong. The Spirit that God gives us is not a spirit of timidity but courage (2 Tim. 1:7). If you really want to change your life, wake up and crucify all your Fears.

Sometimes we fear that something bad will happen to us if we do something new. Sometimes we fear what people will say, if we try something and fail. Sometimes the only problem we have is not any circumstance but our fears. In 1 Sam 17, Goliath came out several times and challenged the Israelites, but the israelites were held by fear that no one could put the giant  Goliath to the sword, until David came to the scene.

David did not just challenge Goliath. David had a secret. David believed and knew that God will never disappoint Him. ” THE LORD IS HIS SHEPHERD ” And THE SHEPHERD did not disappoint. David believed in God to save Him. His strength lies on God and not on any circumstance. He didn’t pay a single attention to the hugeness of His challenger, His weapons and His utterances. David’s attention was simply on God.

Beloved, never worry about what lies before you, do not pay a single attention to what people might say. Pay all your attention to God who will never allow you to be put to shame. God never abandons those who honour Him, notwithstanding the challenges. Crucify your Fears and put all your faith that God will see you through.

Jesus understands this, that knowing how fearful His apostles would be after the ascension, warned them never to leave Jerusalem until they are filled with power from on high. Before the Pentecost event, the apostles lived in fear of the Jews, no converts recorded, no healing, etc all they achieved was locking up themselves in the room. But after the Pentecost event, they became fearless and spoke everywhere even in the presence of the Jews. Then many converts were recorded, healing were on the increase etc.

Many today are like the apostles before the Pentecost experience. Many still lock themselves up at home, believing that nothing can be done to better their lives again. Many are afraid to fight for their future, and they decide to play mediocrity. Beloved, all you need is God around you, everything other thing becomes a trash.

The apostles were acting with a power from on high. Beloved this is what you need. Then step out. If the apostles did not step out of their hiding zone, they will not record any convert, healing, miracles etc. If you do not conquer your fear, your fear will conquer you.

We might still feel afraid, but we can believe that God is with us. We may not be in control, but we can trust the One who is. We may not know the future, but we can know the God who does. David depends on God when fear looms. The psalmist takes God as all in all, then believing in this, He challenged all His challenges.  He says ▪“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.”  ~ Psalm 56:3.

▪ Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” ~ Psalm 23:4

▪The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear?  The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?” ~ Psalm 27:1  Etc… this is where our faith should lie

Many today who are at home doing nothing may not be as a result of poverty but as a result of fear. They know and have heard about many who have succeeded in life but they fear what they may face if they try. The fear they might fail,  the fear something bad may happen. Fear destroys our blessings. Beloved, all you need in life is God’s grace and power. Then depend on them. Believe that God is with you even as you wander in the desert. He will will never forsake you. Beloved, crucify whatever that will dampen your spirit again. The future is in your hands.

May God give you the grace to challenge your challenges and may He abide with you in whatever you do Amen
