Breakfast With the Word Saturday 11th Week Ordinary Time of the Year Shorter Version

Matthew 6:24–34

Do Not Worry

Worry is different from thinking of solutions. While problem-solving is productive, worry only brings fear, stress, and depression. Jesus teaches us not to worry about life, food, clothing, or tomorrow.

There are several reasons why we should avoid worry:

Worry makes us slaves to our fears instead of trusting God. It is also a direct command from Jesus, not a suggestion. Worry is useless because it cannot change anything or add value to our lives.

It also shows a lack of trust and weak faith in God. When we worry, we act like we do not believe that God can take care of us, even though He provides for birds and flowers and values us even more.

Worry reflects unbelief and is common among those who focus only on material needs. But God already knows what we need and promises to provide.

Instead of worrying, we are called to trust God, focus on His kingdom, pray, and take positive steps toward solutions. The future is unknown to us, but not to God, so we should live in faith rather than fear.

In conclusion, worry does not solve problems—it only destroys peace. Trusting God and focusing on Him is the true path to peace, strength, and provision.
