Breakfast With the Word Friday 9th Week Ordinary Time of the Year B

Breakfast With the Word Friday 9th Week Ordinary Time of the Year B shorter version

Mark 12:35-37

How we see someone shapes how we treat them — same with Jesus. The Jews expected the Messiah to be just David’s son, making Him subordinate to David and merely human.

But Jesus corrects this by quoting Psalm 110:1: “The Lord said to my Lord…” If David calls the Messiah “Lord,” then the Messiah is more than David’s descendant. He is David’s Lord, divine, not just human.

Our view of Jesus affects how we approach Him. When we see Him only as human or doubt His divinity, we neglect Him — distracted in church, downplaying the Eucharist, treating God as unreal.

If we truly see Jesus as Lord, Almighty, and real, our attitude changes. We take Him seriously, fear Him above all else, and make Him part of our lives.

So ask yourself: Who is Jesus to you? How you answer shapes how you live.

May we come to truly know Him. Amen.
