Breakfast with the Word. 8th Week Ordinary Time Shorter Version

Mark 11:11-26

Life has principles, both spiritual and practical. Following God’s principles leads to fruitful outcomes.

1. Be Fruitful:

Jesus’ cursing of the fig tree teaches that God expects us to bear fruit. A fruitful life—living and working for God—draws us closer to Him and makes our prayers effective (John 15:7-8).

2. The Power of God’s Word:

God gave humans the ability to speak life. Prayers should speak God’s Word over our lives with faith, as words have the power to shape reality (Hebrews 4:12; Proverbs 18:21).

3. Strong Faith:

Faith, not the volume of prayer, makes it effective. Like Mary at Cana or Bartimaeus, prayers must be simple, focused, and backed by belief that God answers (Hebrews 11:6).

4. Pray with a Pure Heart:

Forgiveness and a clean heart are essential. Harboring anger, envy, or grudges blocks prayers. A pure heart aligns us with God’s will (1 Timothy 2:8; Matthew 5:8).

Conclusion:

Effective prayer combines fruitfulness, the spoken Word, unwavering faith, and a purified heart. May God grant us grace to pray effectively.
