Breakfast with the Word Friday 5th Week of Lent Year B Shorter Version
The Gospel of John 10:31–42 shows how Jesus was misunderstood and rejected despite His efforts to lead people to the truth. Instead of believing, the Jews hardened their hearts, accused Him of blasphemy, and even tried to harm Him. This reflects how people often resist God’s word when it challenges their preconceived ideas or calls them to change.

Like them, we sometimes reject correction, become angry at truth, or lose faith when God does not act according to our expectations. We forget His many blessings and focus only on what we lack. Yet, the word of God is meant to transform us, lead us to repentance, and help us trust Him fully.
Jesus points to His works as proof, reminding us that God is always at work in our lives. Instead of hardening our hearts, we are called to be grateful, to recognize His goodness, and to trust Him even in difficult times.
May God give you the grace to be grateful for all He has done for you. May He accompany you this day in all you do. Amen
