Breakfast with the Word Thursday Week 3 in Ordinary Time of the Year Shorter Version
In Mark 4:21–25, Jesus reminds His disciples that a lamp is not meant to be hidden but placed on a lampstand to give light.
Jesus Himself is the Light of the world, and to be His disciple is also a call to become light to others. Created in God’s image, each of us carries a unique light—our God-given gifts—meant to lead souls to salvation and glorify God, not ourselves.

We must not hide these gifts out of fear, jealousy, or human approval, but allow them to shine through love, service, compassion, and good works.
By placing our light on the lampstand, we drive away darkness, inspire others, and become instruments of hope, conversion, and salvation in a world deeply in need of God’s light.
May God help us to be a light to the world, and may He also be a light to us and our families. Amen
