Breakfast with the Word Monday Week 6 in Ordinary Time of the Year Shorter Version
In Gospel of Mark 8:11–13, the Pharisees demand a sign from heaven despite the many miracles Jesus had already performed, including feeding thousands.
Their request reveals a “signs and wonders spirituality” — a shallow faith that depends entirely on miracles. This kind of spirituality seeks God only for solutions, entertainment, or extraordinary displays of power, and quickly loses faith when miracles do not happen.

Jesus sighed deeply at their unbelief, showing His disappointment in hearts that refuse to trust despite clear evidence of God’s presence.
True faith is not built on constant signs but on a deep, trusting relationship with God. When we worship only because of what God does rather than who He is, we become like the Pharisees.
May God bless you dearest and give us the grace to know Him and may He never allow you to stumble. Amen.
