Breakfast With the Word Monday 18th Week Ordinary Time of the Year Shorter Version
Matthew 14:13-21
Today’s Gospel reminds us that Jesus’ love for us is unconditional. Even when we feel abandoned because our prayers are not answered as we expect, God has not forgotten us. Through the feeding of the five thousand, we see Jesus as compassionate, caring, and always ready to meet our needs.

Jesus Himself needed rest after hearing about John the Baptist’s death, teaching us the importance of taking time to heal and reconnect with God during difficult moments. Yet, when He saw the crowd, He put their needs before His own and welcomed, healed, and cared for them.
The miracle of the five loaves and two fish teaches us that no gift is too small when placed in God’s hands. Jesus can multiply our little efforts, talents, and resources to bless others. We are called to share what we have, support those in need, and become instruments of God’s love.
Therefore, we should never think that God has abandoned us. Jesus loves us deeply, welcomes us always, and invites us to trust Him, share our gifts, and serve others with compassion. Amen.
