The Way we respond to Him; Reflection on Mark 3:7-12

Breakfast with the Word Thursday Second Week Ordinary Time of the Year Shorter Version

Our response to God reveals how much we truly love, respect, and believe in Him. In Mark 3:7–12, large crowds followed Jesus from many distant regions because of what they had heard about Him. Their effort to seek Him was rewarded, as Jesus healed many of them, and even unclean spirits trembled and acknowledged His divine identity.

This passage contrasts the openness of the crowd with the hardness of the Pharisees. While the Pharisees focused on fault-finding and resisted Jesus’ saving work, the people pressed forward eagerly to encounter Him, even from very far places. Their willingness shows that sincere effort and openness of heart draw us closer to God, while resistance and indifference create distance in our relationship with Him.

Today, many still hear about Jesus daily yet live as if God is irrelevant, embracing sin, false powers, and worldly illusions. Even the demons recognize Jesus’ power, while we often neglect prayer and lose faith at the slightest difficulty. Like the crowds, we are invited to seek the Lord wholeheartedly, trusting in His presence and power, knowing that He never disappoints.

May God bless you dearest and give us the grace to seek Him from the deepest part of our heart. May He never allow us to be defeated by any circumstance. Amen
