Breakfast with the Word Wednesday Week 5 in Ordinary Time of the Year Shorter Version
In Mark 7:14–23, Jesus teaches that nothing external can make a person unclean; rather, it is what comes from within the heart that truly defiles. Responding to the Pharisees’ focus on outward rituals like washing hands, Jesus emphasizes that our thoughts, intentions, and desires are what shape our actions and define who we are. The heart is the center of all human activity, and God looks beyond outward appearances to examine our inner motives.

What we constantly think about eventually influences what we do. Evil, negative, and impure thoughts, when entertained, lead to sinful actions, while good and positive thoughts inspire growth, holiness, and success. As Scripture reminds us, God searches the heart, and as a man thinks in his heart, so is he.
To change our lives, we must first change our thoughts. By filling our minds with what is good, pure, and uplifting, our actions will naturally reflect that transformation. Therefore, Mind what you think today. As a man thinks in His heart, so is he. One day, those thoughts will become actions.
May God bless us dearest and give us the grace to succeed in all we do even when all hope is lost Amen
