Breakfast with the Word Tuesday 6th Week Ordinary Time of the Year B Shorter Version
In Gospel of Mark 8:14–21, the disciples worry because they forgot to bring enough bread, even though they had witnessed Jesus feed thousands with only a few loaves. Instead of focusing on their lack, Jesus warns them about the “yeast” of the Pharisees and Herod. Just as yeast spreads through dough, their unbelief, hypocrisy, and attachment to worldly power can quietly influence and weaken faith.

The Pharisees demanded signs and refused to believe, while Herod was consumed by power and material wealth. Jesus cautions His disciples not to let doubt, fear, or concern over material needs distract them from trusting in Him. His presence alone is enough; they should not need external signs to believe.
In the same way, we too can become worried about our needs or seek extraordinary miracles as proof of God’s love. Yet Jesus reminds us to remember what He has already done and to trust that He continues to provide, even in times of lack.
May God bless you, dearest, help us and strengthen our faith in Him. May He bless your efforts. Amen.
