Matthew 8:5–17

Today’s Gospel presents the Centurion whose faith, humility, and love for others deeply move Jesus. He asks Jesus to heal his servant, showing genuine love and concern for someone under his care. This teaches us to love our neighbours selflessly, regardless of their status.

The Centurion also demonstrates strong faith, believing that Jesus only needs to speak a word for healing to occur. This reminds us that true faith is trusting God completely, even without seeing physical evidence.

His humility is also striking. Despite his authority, he sees himself as unworthy before Jesus, teaching us to approach God with respect and humility.

Finally, he shows sacrifice by personally coming to Jesus, reminding us that seeking God requires effort, time, and sincerity.

Overall, the passage calls us to deepen our love, faith, humility, and trust in God, knowing that without faith it is impossible to please Him (Hebrews 11:6)
