Breakfast With the Word Tuesday, 15th Week in Ordinary Time Shorter Version
Matthew 11:20-24
Today’s Gospel reminds us of the danger of a hardened heart. Despite God’s mercy, love, and countless blessings, many people neglect His word and continue in sinful ways. Jesus’ warning to Chorazin, Bethsaida, and Capernaum shows His deep sorrow when people reject His call to repentance despite witnessing His mighty works.

The word “woe” expresses pain and sorrow. It reveals how much our rejection of God hurts His loving heart. When we hear God’s word but refuse to change, we distance ourselves from Him and invite the consequences of our choices.
Jesus is not condemning us without hope. His warning is an invitation to conversion. We still have the opportunity to return to Him, seek forgiveness, and renew our faith.
Let us examine our hearts: How often do we hear God’s word but ignore it? How often do we choose sin over His love? May we not take God’s mercy for granted but turn back to Him with sincere repentance.
May God soften our hearts, strengthen our faith, and give us the grace to always walk in His ways. Amen.
