Breakfast with the Word Saturday 1st Week of Lent Shorter Version
In Gospel of Matthew 5:43–48, Jesus challenges us to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us. Though it seems difficult to love someone who hates, envies, or seeks to harm us, Jesus calls us to respond not with retaliation but with love.
An enemy may act with hostility, jealousy, or even pretend friendship while wishing us harm, yet Christ still commands us to love.

We love our enemies because it distinguishes us as children of God, who shows kindness to both the righteous and the wicked. Loving them helps us strive toward perfection, reflects obedience to God’s will, and makes us true followers of Jesus, who forgave even those who crucified Him.
By blessing those who curse us and praying for those who fight us, we allow God to take control rather than seeking revenge.
May God bless you dearest, and help us in this life. May He favour you, beyond our expectations. Amen.
