Breakfast With the Word. Wednesday 9th Week Ordinary Time
Mark 12:18-27:
In today’s gospel, the Sadducees, a wealthy sect denying resurrection and spirits, challenge Jesus with a hypothetical question about a woman who married seven brothers. Their aim was to trap Him and assert superiority, but their question exposes their ignorance.

Jesus corrects them, explaining that life after death exists and that in resurrection, earthly marriage does not apply—they will be like angels. He emphasizes that God is the God of the living, not the dead, showing that Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob are alive in Him, confirming resurrection and eternal life.
The lesson reminds us to seek true understanding through Scripture and the Church, avoid twisting truths, and be wary of those who question not to learn but to mislead. Life on earth is temporary; death is not the end. Divine guidance is essential to avoid error and grow in faith.
May God grant us knowledge, understanding, and closeness to Him. Amen.
