Breakfast with the Word Saturday third week of Ordinary Time of the Year Shorter Version
Mark 4:35–41
In Mark 4:35–41, the apostles face a violent storm while Jesus sleeps in the boat. Overcome by fear, they cry out, but Jesus calms the sea and questions their lack of faith. Their amazement reveals how little they understood His power.

This gospel mirrors our daily lives, as we too face storms that threaten to overwhelm us and make us doubt God’s care. Like the apostles, we often choose fear over faith and conclude too quickly that we are perishing, forgetting that Jesus is present with us.
Storms are a normal part of life, even for those who walk closely with God. Being a Christian does not make us immune to challenges, but it assures us of God’s presence within them. Jesus invites us to trust in His power, confess our faith, and focus more on how mighty God is than how strong our problems appear.
True faith means believing that nothing is beyond God’s control. In every storm, we are called to stand firm, trust His presence, and remain confident that He will never abandon us.
May God bless you dearest and may He also calm our fears and storms in life. Amen. 💙
