Breakfast with the Word. Monday 9th Week Ordinary Time
Mark 12:1-12
Our Attitude to God’s Love and Provision
God’s love is immense, as John 3:16 and 2 Peter 3:9 show, yet humans often respond with ingratitude and hardness of heart.
In Mark 12:1-12, Jesus tells the parable of the vineyard: a man (God) leases his vineyard to tenants (religious leaders). When he sends servants (prophets) and finally his beloved son (Jesus), they are mistreated and killed. This illustrates how God’s messengers are often rejected, but God’s justice and salvation plan continue.

Everything we have is from God; we are caretakers, not owners.
We must responsibly manage the gifts and opportunities God entrusts to us.
Greed and dishonesty lead to destruction—seen in the tenants’ actions, mirrored in modern crises.
God’s patience is an expression of love, not weakness; He gives us time to repent despite our ingratitude and obstinacy.
May we recognize God’s provision, respond with gratitude, and faithfully steward all He has given us.
Amen
