Breakfast with the Word Thursday First Week of Lent Shorter Version
In Gospel of Matthew 7:7–12, Jesus teaches us to ask, seek, and knock with faith and perseverance. His promise does not mean God is a machine who grants everything instantly; rather, it reveals a loving Father who answers in His own way and in His own time. Every prayer receives a response—yes, no, or wait—according to God’s perfect will.

To ask requires humility and trust in God’s superiority. To seek means more than praying; it calls for sincere desire and action. To knock means persistence and effort. Prayer must go together with hard work, faith, and obedience. God does not encourage laziness but invites us to cooperate with His grace, working toward what we pray for while trusting Him completely.
Even when answers seem delayed, we must never give up. God hears every prayer and gives what is truly good for us. His silence can also be for our good.
May God have mercy on us and answer our prayers in a way good for Him. May He never forsake you. Amen.
