Breakfast With the Word Saturday 15th Week Ordinary Time of the Year Shorter Version.
Matthew 12:14-21
To follow Jesus means more than being a believer; it means accepting His teachings, obeying His commands, and allowing His life to become our example. In today’s Gospel, we see that those who came close to Jesus received healing. He welcomed everyone — Jews and Gentiles, the poor and the rich, sinners and the righteous — because His heart is full of mercy and compassion.
Jesus teaches us that following Him brings healing, not only to our physical bodies but also to our emotional wounds, sinful past, and brokenness. When we draw near to Him, we encounter salvation, love, and peace.

The Gospel also shows us the importance of learning from Jesus. When the Pharisees planned to destroy Him, Jesus did not respond with anger or revenge. He walked away peacefully. He teaches us that walking away from conflict, toxic situations, and things that lead us to sin is not weakness but wisdom.
As followers of Christ, we are called to imitate His love and kindness. Jesus did not discriminate; He showed compassion to all. We too must avoid hatred, division, and unnecessary competition. Instead, we should focus on our mission, love others, and become instruments of peace.
May God give us the grace to truly follow Jesus, learn from His example, seek Him in every situation, and share His mercy and love with everyone we m
eet. Amen.
