Breakfast with The Word: Wednesday of the Second Week of Easter

John 3:16-21

In John 3:16-21, the discussion between Jesus and Nicodemus continues. At this point, Jesus reveals to Nicodemus who He is, and the reason He comes to the world, but the world rejects Him.

This encounter with Jesus teaches us that in every meeting with God, He reveals to us who He is. Our knowledge of God begins to increase whenever we are serious to have a close relationship with Him.

The Reason Jesus comes to the World.

In this discussion, Jesus now opens up to Nicodemus that He comes from God and not from any human being. Jesus reveals Himself as the light that God sends to the world but the world said no to God’s love.

His coming to the world is because of the love God has for the world. God sends His son to come and suffer for the world so that through this, the world will know how much He loves her but the world turns her back on God.

He comes to the world to give the world eternal life, save her from condemnation and eternal damnation and brings them to the light. Yet the world said no to God’s love.

In the Gospel.

The Gospel passage begins with the words: “God so loved the world that He sent His only begotten son that whoever believes in Him will be saved”.

Let us think about this. God manifests the truth of His love by allowing Jesus to die for you and me. The coming of Jesus is not for historical purposes but to save man.

God gave man easy access to salvation through Jesus. Yet man is yet to be convinced. The world bluntly said no to God’s love.

Jesus came and suffered for the world, yet the world attacks everything about Him and tries to make others who love Him lose faith in Him. We do not have a single time for Him. Whenever any topic against faith and Christianity comes up, it receives a grievous attack.

There is an increasing hatred on God, Jesus, and everything Christianity. What has Jesus done to us? He suffered but we are paying Him back with hatred, faithlessness and disinterestedness. We become busy anywhere but when it comes to God we become tired.

Do you know that God so much loves you but the problem is that we do not have His time? In this love, man has the freedom to choose but man abandons Jesus to pursue shadows. The truth is that the world has said no to God’s Love.

What God demands.

What God demands from us is simple. In the gospel, Jesus says that everyone who believes in Him will not be lost. So, what God wants from us is to accept Jesus as our saviour, believe in Him and come to Him always.

God’s way is the best. He does not want us to live in condemnation, He wants us to have the freedom of the Children of God. Whoever believes in Jesus will have this freedom, Whoever believes in him will not be condemned.

There is No Condemnation in Jesus Christ.

There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus ( Romans 8:1). This goes beyond mere utterance to living the faith.

If we believe in Jesus, it should be seen in everything that we do. We would believe that all He says is true and then live according to His words.

In Matthew 8:5-13, the centurion believed in His words and encountered healing. We cannot disobey God and claim to love Him as well.

In John 14:15, Jesus says “if you love me, keep my commandment”. This is the only way to show our faith and the love we have for Him. But the world said no to God’s love.

The world prefers to follow what she wants rather than what God wants. We have turned our back on God.

The Way to Condemnation.

According to the gospel, the easiest way to condemnation is to deny and abandon Jesus, yet this is the one the world has chosen.

The gospel says He who does not believe is already on the way to condemnation because he does not believe in the Name of the only Son of God. yet, the world said yes, we want condemnation.

Do you feel the worry in the heart of Jesus when He told Nicodemus that Light has come into the world but people abandoned the light to pursue darkness? We prefer to live in evil than good.

We prefer to hate than to love. The world prefer to enjoy sin than seeking God, We prefer to kill and inhibit than to help.

Jesus said it emphatically that whoever does wrong hates the light and does not come to the light. He feels sad that the light has come into the world, but the world chooses darkness.

Many who seem to believe sometimes lose hope during challenges. The world said no to God’s love and turned her back on her Creator.

The truth is that , anyone who comes to the Light will always shine. Jesus is the light. If We come to Him, we become living witnesses of the gospel.

In Him, we can shine in the midst of darkness but yet we prefer to live in sin and turn our backs away from God.

Can we acknowledge Jesus not just by merely saying it but strongly believing and living it out that the Light of God will shine on us again? We need Jesus. Let us open our hearts to Him.

May God bless you dearest and give you the grace to encounter Jesus personally and may you overcome all your challenges today Amen
