RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE HUSBAND.

In fact, first responsibility for the husband is to be the Spiritual Leader of the family. A leader is a person who knows where he is going and is able to persuade others to voluntarily come along.

God said to Abraham, I want you to move, he didn’t know specifically where he was going, but he knew he was following God’s will, and he was able to Persuade Sarah to go with him.

He was a Spiritual Leader. (Heb11:10) Husbands have to love their wives just as they are.

Even if you think, maybe she is too talkative or too fat, your role as husband is to “LOVE” your wife without comparing, criticism or complaining.

Duties of the Husband to the Wife

1. To be happy with your wife: Always be happy with her, call her that nick name that you used to call her during courtship. Make funs, smiles with her, pet and play with her at all times.

Make your house a happy home. (Proverbs 5:18_19) says; so be happy with your wife and find joy with the woman you married. Pretty and graceful as a deer. Let her charms keep you happy; let her surround you with her Love.

To dwell with her according to knowledge (study her) as a weaker vessel-giving honour as such, know what your wife likes and continue doing that for her, and try also to understand your wife very well. (1Peter3:7) says; In the same way, you husbands must live with your wives with the proper understanding that they are more delicate than you.

Treat them with respect because they also will receive, together with you, God’s gift of life. Do this so that nothing will interfere with your prayers.

2. To provide for the family: (1Timothy5:8) says; But if any do not take care of relatives, especially the members of their own family, they have denied the faith and are worse than an unbeliever. Although, nowadays it is not easy thing for the husband to work and provide funds for the family.

A wife, at least must use words of encouragement and a loving kiss to complement the husband whenever he comes back from work. This gives her husband a big relief after a hectic work.

c good comment on any good and well-fitting dress she worn.

He should also discourage his wife from putting on any dress that would not make her look responsible mother/wife, dress that exposes her breasts, her hips, too tight on her body. Any comments from the husband must be done in friendly way especially if it is the one that is not done well so as to ensure peace not quarrel at home.

3. Honor and Respect her:  Place your wife high, make her know that out of all the women in the world she is the only Apple of your eyes, the only one for you and that there is no other person.

Understand her language of Love or body language: God wants you to enjoy sex and view it as a precious thing between a husband and his wife. I learnt that even when I am too tired to enjoy sex act, I can still greatly enjoy being close to my husband and giving him pleasure. It is holy in God’s sight.

4.  Listen to her attentively: Listen to her voice (Gen 21:9-12) Abraham humbly complied, and his family enjoyed peace and unity, as well as God’s blessings.

Marriage is a union between a matured man and matured woman (according to Prof Emmanuel). Married life is not easy, it is of mixture of joy and sorrow. Husband and wife must continue to thank God for many blessings they receive from God.

They should continue looking up to JESUS for help and calling on Blessed Virgin Mary to intercede for them.

There are many Spiritual books that can help Couples to maintain peace in their matrimonial home. Like, HOW TO MAKE YOUR HUSBAND LOVE YOU and HOW TO MAKE YOUR WIFE LOVE YOU.

Husband and wife should read about the life of some Saints of the Church and learn from them, how they were able to handle difficulties.   Husband and wife with serious problems should read about the life of St Rita of Cascia.

Wife with difficult husband and child should read about the life of St Monica.

Thank you and remain blessed
